High-Speed Rail Grants Information



Florida's Redirected Funds
The U.S. Department of Transportation is seeking to redirect $2.4 billion in High Speed Intercity Passenger Rail funds initially awarded for Florida's Tampa-to-Orlando high-speed rail line. In February, Florida Gov. Rick Scott announced he was rejecting the funds. States must submit applications by April 4, 2011.

Planning/Construction Grants
On May 19, 2010 states submitted applications to the Federal Railroad Administration for $115 million available in high-speed intercity passenger rail planning and construction grants. The FRA is expected to announce grant awards later this summer.

Stimulus Grant Awards
On Jan. 28, 2010 the Obama Administration announced the recipients of $8 billion in high-speed intercity passenger rail grants available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

FY2010 Appropriations Grants
On June 28, 2010 the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) announced it will award $2.1 billion in high-speed rail (HSR) grants and an additional $245 million for individual construction projects within an HSR corridor. Applications are due to the FRA by Aug. 6.
