Yesterday, the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) announced it obligated $15 million in High-Speed Intercity Passenger Rail funds to the Texas Department of Transportation to jumpstart planning for high-speed rail service between Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth.
The state will use the funds to conduct environmental and engineering work along the corridor.
The funds are part of the federal dollars that were redirected from Florida.
